Most people see wrinkling at the top of a bra cup Most people see wrinkling at the top of a bra cup and immediately blame the straps. “They must be pulling too tight,” right? But as someone who designs for real bodies I can tell you, that’s not always the case. Whilst I was browisng the internet for a new bra, I spotted this exact issue (I can’t help myself!🫣)- wrinkles forming near the strap apex. At first glance, it does look like the strap is causing it. But when the same bra is shown on a smaller-busted model? No wrinkles at all. So what’s the actual issue? It’s not the strap. 👉It’s the volume. When the cup isn’t designed to support the volume of the bust, the fabric collapses - usually right where the support structure ends. No amount of strap tweaking will fix that. This is a pattern problem, not a tension problem. This is exactly where proper pattern cutting makes all the difference. I asked AI to generate a commercial photoshoot in I asked AI to generate a commercial photoshoot in 2 different size ranges with my design and this is what it gave me. Did you think this real? Yep, so did I! It couldn’t quite figure out the back design but I’ll let it off for that 😉 Swipe to the last photo and you’ll see my original CAD drawings. I’ve used AI in my backend processes for a while but it wasn’t till I saw a masterclass on AI in your workflow by @dandvconcept in the Elite fashion freelancers community hosted by @thefashionfreelancecoach that really made me think about using it for my front end. So this week I’ve incorporated it into my front end and I’m already amazed at how this is going to improve my work flow! 🤩 🌟 I’ve used it so my client was easily able to visualise different fabric samples in her design which took only a few minutes for each design. The result 👉 decisions were made a lot quicker and my client now has a good idea of what her design will look like in real life! AI is definitely a bit scary and it’s getting very hard to know what to trust online but it can be incredibly helpful too, so I’ll be using it with complete transparency.
