I know this becasue I used to have a handmade lingerie brand where I would sew every garment and I never once thought about my customer! 😬😳 I only thought about what I wanted to make, my branding was just my interests and becasue of this my sales were SLOW. You’ve seen a garment from a brand you absolutel You’ve seen a garment from a brand you absolutely love and it’s sold out really quickly after they’ve launched it and now you’re thinking if I created a similar garment I’ll get the same results. But here’s why that won’t work for your brand 👉 There is SO much behind the scenes branding! When a garment is successful I can bet you it’s only 50% (at most) of why the garment is doing so well. The other half or most of it, is the invisible branding which customers don’t see but experienced designers do! 👉 It’s built for their dream customer not yours! They specifically made it to be the perfect solution for their dream customer so if you create the same thing for your customer It ain’t gonna work. 👉 Customers get behind a brand and not a garment! You see their garment selling out, the brand knows that’s because of their branding and customer loyalty and they could very easily repeat it with a different garment. 👉 They have more investment and resources than you. What you don’t see is all the time, energy, research and money that has gone into the whole process. What you see is only the cherry on top, there’s a whole cake underneath that only the people within the brand know about. 👉 Time builds trust. Their customers have SO much trust in their brand from amazing testimonials, consistent marketing, great fit which is proven time after time that whenever they launch a new product it will always do well.
