Most people see wrinkling at the top of a bra cup Most people see wrinkling at the top of a bra cup and immediately blame the straps. “They must be pulling too tight,” right? But as someone who designs for real bodies I can tell you, that’s not always the case. Whilst I was browisng the internet for a new bra, I spotted this exact issue (I can’t help myself!🫣)- wrinkles forming near the strap apex. At first glance, it does look like the strap is causing it. But when the same bra is shown on a smaller-busted model? No wrinkles at all. So what’s the actual issue? It’s not the strap. 👉It’s the volume. When the cup isn’t designed to support the volume of the bust, the fabric collapses - usually right where the support structure ends. No amount of strap tweaking will fix that. This is a pattern problem, not a tension problem. This is exactly where proper pattern cutting makes all the difference.
